The Bull Dog® Multiplier® triples the cleaning power of a standard bailer run by increasing stroke length from 5 to 15 feet, which results in more fluid movement, more suction, and higher debris capacity per trip. Designed for use directly below the Bull Dog® Bailer, it enables high-volume recovery operations in deep or debris-heavy environments. Manufactured from high-strength heat-treated alloy steel, the Multiplier includes a hexagonal mandrel for rotation compatibility and supports up to 476,700 lbs of tensile load. Common sizes include 3-1/8", 3-3/4", and 4-5/8" OD, with stroke displacement up to 6.2 gallons per cycle.

Applications

The Bull Dog® Multiplier® offers a method to supplement the performance of the Bull

Dog® Bailer by increasing the stroke from 5 to 15 feet with the corresponding increase in

displacement and duration of the flow period.

Features & Advantages

The Multiplier® is run in conjunction with the Bull Dog® Bailer. The tool assembly

consists of a float valve run on top of your desired bottom hole tool, the tubing cavity, and

the Multiplier® run immediately below the Bull Dog® Bailer. The length, weight and

capacity of the tubing cavity must be designed in consideration of the fluid level available

in the well bore and the amount of debris to be cleaned out of the well bore. Reciprocation

of the Bull Dog® Bailer and the Multiplier® (15' stroke) draws fluid and debris in through

the bottom hole tool, through the float valve, and up into the tubing cavity. The sand and

debris collect in the tubing cavity above the float valve; while, the fluid goes through the

pump assembly and is discharged back into the annulus.

The mandrel of the Multiplier® is hexagonal like the Bull Dog® Bailer to permit normal

rotation of the entire work string for your desired operations. All principal parts of the

Multiplier® are manufactured from high-strength, heat-treated, alloy steel to obtain the

same strengths as the Bull Dog® Bailer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  1. What is the Bull Dog® Multiplier® used for?

The Multiplier® is a stroke-extending cleanout tool designed to increase the displacement and pumping force of the Bull Dog® Bailer. By increasing stroke length from 5 feet to 15 feet, it boosts debris capture and improves pump efficiency in cleanout operations.

  2. How does the Multiplier® work with the Bailer?

The Multiplier® is run directly below the Bull Dog® Bailer in the tool string. As the string is reciprocated, the Multiplier® amplifies the stroke, drawing more debris and fluid into the tubing chamber per cycle. The increased displacement allows for longer runs and better cavity fill, especially in deep or debris-heavy wells.

  3. When should I use the Multiplier® in my cleanout job?

    Use the Multiplier® when:

    • You need greater debris volume per stroke

    • The well has high sand or fill volume

    • Fewer trips and more efficient cleanout is preferred

    • You're working in deeper wells or larger casing where bailer-only displacement may be limited

  4. What sizes are available for the Bull Dog® Multiplier®?

    Standard sizes include:

    • 3-1/8" O.D. with 2-3/8" EUE 8RD

    • 3-3/4" O.D. with 2-7/8" EUE 8RD

    • 4-5/8" O.D. with 2-7/8" EUE 8RDEach model offers a 10-foot stroke and robust tensile/torque ratings, matching the Bailer tool string’s capacity.

  5. Can the Multiplier® be used with other bottom-hole tools?

Yes — it works seamlessly with the same bottom-hole tools used with the Bull Dog® Bailer, including bits, overshots, Cutrite® shoes, or custom cleanout heads. The Multiplier® simply increases the effectiveness of the entire system, regardless of the tool run below it.
